He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrle C. Chamness and Evelyn Marie Morrison Chamness; and his siblings, Tressie Owens, Dixie Crawford, Janice Grimes, Georgia Grimes, Essie Barahona, Marie Ranzo-Pruitt and Myrle D. Chamness.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Lynn Baker Chamness; and his children, John M. Chamness (Rebecca) of Richmond and Tammy Sue Lewis of Richmond. He is also survived by six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
