She is survived by: her children, Dorothy McWhorter, Lavonda Sands (Marvin Sr.), Roger Newton, Melvin Newton and Alvin Newton (Shann); and her grandchildren, Melvin Sands (Julie), Marvin Sands Jr. (Sarah), Theresa McWhorter, Karen McWhorter, Brandi Riley Velazquez (Gabriel) and Yvonne Moore (Rick). She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
