He was predeceased by: his parents, Estel Lewis and Ola Wells Miller; his children, Patricia Lewis-Richie, Terina Rexford and Kurt Lewis; and his great grandchild Nate Dawkins.

He is survived by: his son Ernest "Dean" Lewis (Connie); and his sister Juanita Werner. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
