He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas P. Legear and Ethel Hardin Legear. He is survived by: his wife Judy; his children, Tom Legear (Jennifer Lady) of Richmond, Tammy Henry (Mike) of Richmond, Terry Smarrelli (Brad) of Richmond and Tonya Dale (Joe) of Vincennes; and his grandchildren, Angela, Christina, Joe, Samantha, Cory, Brad and Austin. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
