He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Byers (Mary) and Ruth Havens (John); and his stepbrother Dick Simmermon. He is survived by: his wife Kimberly K. Herre; his daughters, Stefanie Lane (Randy) of Rensselaer, IN. and Heather Hayes (Joe) of Rensselaer, IN.; his sister Jean Woods (Davis) of Germantown, TN; and his stepsiblings, Pam Davis (Mike) of Rensselaer, IN and Randy Simmermon (Lynn) of Bella Vista, AR..
