He was predeceased by: his parents, William Whalen and Catherine Whalen (Stanton); his son Mark; and his siblings, Patriia, Margaret and William.

He is survived by: his daughter Lori Reynolds (Tracy); and his brother John Whalen. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
