He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph E. Gilbert and Margaret A. "Peggy" Gilbert (Powers); and his brother Joe Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Gilbert of Rensselaer; his brother George Gilbert (Judy) of Kirkland, IN; his nephews, Matthew and Michael; and his niece Elaine.
