He was predeceased by: his father Melvin Edward; and his son Mark E. Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Donna Sue; his children, Terri S. Brown (Patrick) of Wolcott, Donald J. Thomas (Karen) of Wolcott and Dennis A. Thomas (Jeanne) of Illinois; his grandchildren, Mark, Joseph Brown, Lindsey Roberts (Abram), Kyle Thomas (Caitlin), Ethan Thomas (Grace), Corey Thomas (Mackenzie), Kayleigh Nicholl (Justin), Courtney Thomas and Karah Thomas; his great grandchildren, Tahlia, Madeline, Gilbert Roberts and Isaiah Thomas; and his sisters, Lynn Wealing (Ron) of Fowler and Lynette Lane (Kent) of Remington.

The family ask that memorial donations be given to the Biblical Ministries Worldwide or donor's choice in Merle Edward Thomas's name.
