He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Lee Nix (Wilkinson); his daughter Mary Renee Nix; his sister Theresa Allen; his son-in-law Michael Newton; and his great grandchild Kadence Lee Woods.
He is survived by: his children, Charles William "Bill" Nix (Donna) of Poseyville, Roger E. Nix (Anita) of Fishers, Indiana, Carla Newton of Poseyville, Caroline Jane Eickhoff (John) of Evansville and Marisue Hammelman (Mark) of Evansville, Indiana; his sisters, Mary Catherine Garrison of Brownsburg, Ann Powers of Indianapolis and Margaret Herrel of Jasper, Indiana; his brother-in-law Gene Allen of Princeton, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Matthew Nix (Lindsey), Adam Nix (Lacey), Jennifer Holder (Grant), Lauren Hirsch (Jacob), Kyle Nix (Angela), Cameron Nix (Barbara), Logan Newton (Sarah), Megan Newton, Kendra Newton, Neil Hammelman (Lauren), Kayla Robinson (Jeremiah) and Leah Hammelman (Eric Graber). He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
