He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Bye and Iris E Bye (Labig); his wife Mary Lu Bye; his son Terry Bye; and his siblings, Judy Smitley, Sharon Brimhall, Patricia Peacock, Wendel and Sheldon Bye.

He is survived by: his former wife Dorothy Watkins (Reynolds); his children, Rodney Bye (Kim), Kim Williams (Dan) and Stacy Newton (Portland); his stepdaughters, Barbara Nichols (Chris) and Sharon Watkins Crockett (Kraig); his sisters, Lois June Woodard (Albany) and Marilyn Sue Cummings (Portland); and his daughter-in-law Patty Bye. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
