He was predeceased by: his father John. He is survived by: his wife Peggy Carter (Russell); his grandsons, Taylor Carter and Riley Taylor; and his brothers, Jay H. Carter and Tom Carter. He is also survived by his mother; two sons.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
