He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Thomas and Gladys Thomas (Atkinson) of Indianapolis; his son David Bruce; and his sister Shirley Lawrence. He is survived by: his wife Yvonne (Haskett); and his children, Joyce Mulvey of Indianapolis, Doug Thomas (Cheryl) of Indianapolis and Kelly Johnson (Ryan) of Portland.
