He was predeceased by: his parents, Harrison Smith and Mary Smith; his wife Viola; his son Tommy Smith; his brothers, Alonzo Smith and Lonis Smith; and his nephew Mike Smith.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Kelli Johnson; his children, Teresa Smith (Rich Stover) and David Smith (Stephanie); his sister Imogene Brown (Randall); his sister-in-law Myrtle Smith; and his pet Lucy. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
