He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Onofrey and Alice Onofrey-Giedemann. He is survived by: his wife Marta Onofrey; his daughter Mary Grace Onofrey; his siblings, Daniel, Donald Onofrey and Beth Gonzalez (Marce); his niece Gigi Gonzalez; and his nephew Jon Gonzalez.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to White Sox Charities in Joseph's name.
