In loving memory of John Nelson of Portage, Indiana, born in Gary, Indiana, who departed this world on April 18, 2025 at the age of 67. John leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Nelson and Laticia Nelson; his stepmother Linda Nelson; and his sons, Billy, John Jr. and Ron Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Nelson; his children, Kenny Nelson and Tammy Holmer (Wayne); his siblings, Merel Nelson (Debbie), George Nelson and Missy Mills (Gus); and his pet Freddy. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, other loving family members and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Country Side Hall (5250 US-6, Portage, IN 46368).
