It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara F. Thornton of Portage, Indiana, who passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Mow and Katherine Mow; her stepmother Dorothy; her sister Roberta Mow; and her grandsons, Timothy Scott McGuire and Brian Thornton.
She is survived by: her husband Ben Thornton; her sister Beverly Thompson; and her children, Robert McGuire (Kathy), Donald McGuire (Dana), Ronald McGuire (Susan), Cindi Kaminski, Jeffrey Thornton and Brian Thornton. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild due in January and beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, IN 46342).
