He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hilliard and Mable Hilliard (Turner); his siblings, Emmett Hilliard (Myrtle), Willard Hilliard (Frances), Lillard Hilliard (Joann), Layton Hilliard (Ethel), Adolph Hilliard (Alita) and Marie Stoneburger (Joe); and his brother-in-law John Hansbrough (Carolyn).
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Tamera Greenlee (James) of Plymouth, W. Scott Hilliard (Traci) of Plymouth and Jodi Eveland (Derek) of Plymouth; his grandchildren, Ashley Lynne, Shana, Ashley Marie, Bailey, Riley, Olivia and Clay; his sister Joyce; and his brothers-in-law, Fred Jenkins (Pat), Jim, Ronnie Painter (Judy) and Harold Marshall (Brenda). He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
