He was predeceased by: his wife Amalia "Molly" Mendez; and his grandsons, Marcello Mendez and Manuel Mendez. He is survived by: his children, J. Antonio Mendez (Lucrecia), Amalia "Molly" Richey (Ryan), Salatiel "Sal" Mendez Jr. (Jodi), Maurilio Mendez (Monica) and Erica K. Mendez (Brendan); and his grandchildren, Airman 1st Class Austin Richey, Tyler Richey, Winifryd "Finnley" Kareen, Mateo Mendez, Macario Mendez and Marquez Mendez.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Calendar the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter (9645 Deer Trail, Plymouth, IN 46563). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM.
Memorial contributions are directed towards Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home which will benefit Fair Haven Foundation, 1702 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202-2031, an organization supporting families going through cancer treatment, honoring Sal's legacy.
