He was predeceased by: his parents, Garwood Powell and Margaret Powell (Fravel). He is survived by: his wife Nancy Jayne Powell; his children, Quarter Horses, Mike Powell (Debra), Rick Powell (Debi), Lana Singleton (Lance) and Tana Henry (Chris); his grandchildren, Mike, Josh, Jason (Mandy), Jon Powell, Rick and Debi; his sister Lorraine Powell; and also, Craig Powell, Matt Powell (Renee), Lana, Lance, Lane Singleton (Amber), Lanae Singleton, Tana, Chris, Shelby, Riley and Haley Henry. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
