She was predeceased by: her parents, William Jackson and Nellie "Octavia" Jackson; her husband Paul Lawson; her siblings, John Jackson and Alta Lois Porter; and her great grandchild Chloe Hughes.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Lawson (Denise), Melda Sexton and Kim Lawson; her sister Narcie; her grandchildren, Joshua Lawson (Missy), Bethany Hughes (Anjuan), April Lawson, Emily Taylor (Art), Courtney Alexander, Carrie Sas (Jake) and Jimmy Lawson; and her sister-in-law Candice Jackson. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
