He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Johnston and Jessie Johnston (Sumpter); his son Steven Johnston; and his siblings, Charles, Virgil, Ralph, Jack and Virginia Nield (Johnston).
He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Ginny" Johnston (Pearson); and his children, Anthony Johnston (Renee) and Kathy Acton. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
