He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Eugene and Ruth McGillem (Abel). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen O. McGillem of Plainfield; his daughter Sarah; his son-in-law Reynaldo Stargell; his grandsons, Andrew and Evan of Lewis Center, Ohio; his sister Sharon; his brother-in-law Gary Richardson of Mitchell, IN; and his brothers, Frederick (Nancy O'Herron), Dennis (Mary Frances O'Herron), Brian (Mary O'Herron) and Jacalyn O'Herron of Horseheads, NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
