He was predeceased by: his parents, Jamie Garrett and Beulah Garrett (Staton); his former wife Ruby Ilene Smith; his son Gary Dean; and his brother James Wayne.
He is survived by: his daughter Peggy Jean; his spouse Shirley Hunt; and his children, Brenda Westerfield (Mike), Karen Conarroe (Dave), Chuck Hunt (Stephanie), Tom Hunt and Cheryl Williams (Bruce).
