It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Franklin Gumbel of Petersburg, Indiana, born in Mount Vernon, Indiana, who passed away on September 18, 2022, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur P. Gumbel and Mary Ann Gumbel (Pennington); his siblings, Albert L. Gumbel and Wilma Ruth Williams; and his grandson Matthew Robert Wood.
He is survived by: his wife Judith E. Wood Gumbel (Kinman); his sons, Geoffrey J. Wood (Susan) and David M. Wood; his grandchildren, Michael Wood (Andrea), Mallory Terry (Nicholas), D. J. Wood (Valerie), Travis Wood (Vicki), Addison Crum, Kinnley Crum, Liam Terry, Elliot Terry, Harper Wood, Knox Wood, Crew Wood and Ella Jo Wood; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Weathers (David) and Carla Willis (Greg); and his nieces and nephews, Tammy Johnson (Mike), Teresa Lugo, Nathan Willis (Samantha), Tom Willis (Ashley), Kinsey Barrett (Trent), Brook Strahle (Jim) and Brian Weathers.
