Thomas Carter Jr. Obituary
Thomas David Carter Jr., 56, of Peru passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer at his home surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
He was born on February 19, 1964 in Wabash, Indiana, the son of Thomas David Sr. and Opal (Hurt) Carter, who survive. Tom married Melissa Mooney on July 9, 1996, and she survives. He is also survived by his children: Kristen (Timothy) Shear of Wabash, David Carter of Peru, and Jessica Carter of Peru. Grandchildren: Lillian Shear, Kyndall Shear, Jordyn Shear, Lennon Carter, and Paisley Carter. Sister: Barb Fitzpatrick. Niece & Nephew: Kayla (Bryan) Miller and Travis Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by his sister Anita Lukander.
Tom was a graduate of North Miami High School where he was a varsity basketball player. He worked at Square D where he retired from. He loved hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and just being outside. Tom loved his garden and worked in it as much as he could to make it as beautiful as possible. He loved to watch and play sports anytime he could. A few of his favorites were college basketball (GO BOILERS), college football, and golf. One of his top things on his bucket list was going to a Purdue vs IU game and he finally got to go see Purdue win against IU in Mackey Arena. He loved to work with his hands and if you asked him to build you something, he would go above and beyond to make it everything you wanted. He was a huge family man and loved to make everyone laugh. If you called him and needed help, he would be there in a heartbeat and didn't expect anything in return. Tom was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
