He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Stapleton and Bethal Stapleton (Adkins); and his siblings, Watt, Paul Stapleton, Mary Ousley and Evelyn Bailey.
He is survived by: his wife Susie of Peru; his daughter Karen Berglan (Thomas) of Amboy; his stepchildren, Eric Dean (Terri) and Brenda Eldridge (Mitchell); his grandchildren, Kelley Simmons (David) and Laura Berglan (Ben Davis); his stepgrandchildren, Jim Dean (Vicky), Erynn O'Neill (Chris) and Brian Hullett (Kenzie); his great grandchildren, Alaina, Aubrey Simmons and Cullin Davis; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Henry Dean, Maggie, Emma O'Neill, Zeke and Zaiden Hullett.
