He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Young Owens; his parents, Odie Owens and Ila Spann Owens; and his siblings, Maxine, Wilburn, Ernest and Ronnie.
He is survived by: his daughters, Diana Mifflin (Stephen) of Sun Prairie and Tamara Bland of Palm Desert, California; his grandsons, Michael, Daniel, Andrew and Matthew; and his siblings, Mildred, Buna, Brenda, Vernon, Gary and Kenny.
