He was predeceased by: his parents, J. David Mercer and Precious Jewel Mercer (McDaniel). He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Mercer; his children, Rex Allen Mercer (Penny), Jeffrey Linn Mercer (Roxanne), James Lee Mercer (Tyna) and Lori Ann Stephenson (Dean); and his siblings, Dale Mercer, Leland Mercer, Judy Tescher, Janet Springfield and Justine Handley. He is also survived by four granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Historical Museum or the Oncology Department at Community Hospital.
