He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Jackson Sr. and June A. Harrelson; and his siblings, Cecil Jackson, Charles David Jackson and Joyce Mae Grigg.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Jackson; his sons, Richard Jackson and Christopher Jackson (Barbara); his stepchildren, Keith Thomas Groth (Kelley) and Kristina Marie Groth; his siblings, Russell Jackson, Mary Lee Isaacson, Patricia Rankin and Charlotte Sole; and his cousin James Norman. He is also survived by six grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
