He is survived by: his mother Alice McDowell (Purcell) of Fort Branch; his children, Nick McDowell (Misty) of Petersburg and Courtney Mason (Josh) of Pike County; his grandchildren, Morgan McDowell, Nate McDowell and Eric Mason; his brother Donnie McDowell (Deb) of Houston, Texas; and his nieces and nephews, Dawn Wendleton, Lisa Germann, Shawn McDowell and Michael McDowell.
