He was predeceased by: his parents, James Patton-Brown and Elzora Patton-Brown (Piatt); his brothers, Phil Patton and Roger Patton; his father-in-law Raymond Stelse; and his brother-in-law Dennis Stelse.

He is survived by: his wife Tami Stelse; his children, Jeffrey Patton (Christy) and Brenda Sue Stahl; his siblings, Linda Greenwell (Vic), Kay Phillips (Joe) of Indiana, Teri Wheeler of Missouri, Michael Patton (Linda), Ken Patton (Sherrie) of North Carolina, Kevin Patton (Mary) and Daniel Patton (Lisa) of Indiana; his sisters-in-law, Debra Payne (Richard) of Illinois, Debbie Stelse of Wisconsin and Marilyn Patton of Indiana; his brother Steve; and also John Miller (Ann) of Wisconsin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Memorial Honors.
