He was predeceased by: his parents, Doyle Payton and Hazel Payton; his wife Elizabeth Comley; and his siblings, Clifford Payton, Betty, Dorothy, Ruby and Clara Bele Dunn Roy.

He is survived by: his son Roy Albert Payton; and his siblings, Joe, Eugene, Sue, Hazel Marie, Dolene McLain English and Chosen.
