He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Hay and Frances P. Hay (Fraze). He is survived by: his mother-in-law Elizabeth Hay (Collett); his children, Charles M. Hay (Jennifer), Nathan E. Hay (Courtney) and Martha J. Jordan; his grandchildren, Lauren Garrett (Jacob), Daniel Hay, Samuel Hay, Isaac Hay, Ziza Jordan and Logan Hay; his great grandchild Jace Garrett; and his siblings, Michael Hay (Judy), Roger Hay (Melinda), Jeanette Smith and Teresa Benham (Kevin).
