He was predeceased by: his parents, Orvel J. Carter and Daphne L. Carter (Wilson); his wife Thelma Mae Ashcraft; his granddaughter Marie Ellen Carter; his daughter-in-law Carolyn Carter; his siblings, Charles William Carter and Shirley Carter Fields; his nephew Rick Carter; and his son Ritchie Tim Carter.
He is survived by: his children, Randy J. Carter and Bonnie L. Holtsclaw (Darrel); his grandchildren, Brad Holtsclaw, Melissa Fields, John Poore and Amanda Poore; and his great grandchildren, Wyatt Fields, Hannah Fields, Kristy Gholson, Heather Babbs, Sean Walls, Tyler Babbs, Dylan Poore and Tori Poore.
The family wishes any memorial donations be made to IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
