He was predeceased by: his parents, Laine Koppel (Toiger) and Rudolf Koppel. He is survived by: his wife Kay Decker of Osgood; his children, Kata (Matthew Golding) of Vaudreuil and Thomas of Osgood; and his sister Helve Koppel of Halifax. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the donor's choice of charity.
