He is survived by: his sons, Mark Root (Sara), Jonathan Root (Susan) and Dr. David Root; his grandchildren, Katie Gerndt (Jared), Madelynne Root, Melissa Root and Andrew Root; his great grandchild Elijah Gerndt; his siblings, Ralph Root (Ann), Irwin Root, Thomas Root (Vertie) and Rita Kreiser (Terry); and his aunt Jean Geist. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home (10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN 46561). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Southlawn Cemetery (61430 IN-931, South Bend, IN 46614).
