He was predeceased by: his parents, Stella Agnes (Hackman) and Edward J. Volz; his siblings, Bob Volz, Mary-Barbara Parrish and Dianne Hanson (Jim Hanson); his son Troy Meer; and his grandchildren, Marley Volz, Conner and Kelsey Andrews.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Volz; his brother Dick Volz; and his children, Brent Volz, Andy Volz (Shawna), Daniel Volz, Tim Meer (Teresa) and Mindy Meyer (Brian). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
