He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert A. Sims and Helen L. Sims (Dowden); his siblings, Ronald Joe Sims and Jenny Strange; and his son-in-law John M. Sibray.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Smith of Indianapolis; his children, Gary Sims (Laura) of Washington, Christina Porter (Ron) of Washington, Doug Sims (Jodi Garrison) of Odon, John Duane Sims of Indianapolis and Susan Johnson (Randall) of Bloomington; and his sister Randi Sims of Vincennes. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces/nephews and brothers/sisters-in law.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Boone to the Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon who cared for him in his last few years of life.
