He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Akles and Katherine Akles (Bridges); his siblings, Kenneth Akles and Becky Walls; and his grandson Dustin Wells.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Akles (Sermersheim); his children, Brett Akles of Evansville, IN, Tony Akles (Diana) of Nineveh, IN, Natalin Akles of Colorado and Nadine Lantaff of Vincennes, IN; and his brother Merrill Akles of Loogootee, IN.
