With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Karen Elaine Briggs (Oakland City, Indiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 9, 2024 at the age of 82. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Karen Elaine leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Karen Elaine may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Eula Mae (Caskey) and Richard Schoonover; her brother Jeffrey Schoonover; and her husband Lawrence "BJ" Briggs. She is survived by: her children, Robert Kerney (Adena) and Crissy Kerney (Jason Brothers); her grandchildren, Kayleigh and Landon Cason; and her brother Alan Schoonover (Joyce). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel (226 E Washington St, Oakland City, IN 47660). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
