He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira B. Spears and Ora Spears (Watson); his son Roger Spears; and his siblings, Homer, Delbert, Willis Spears, Norma Jean Taylor and Beulah Denham.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Spears of North Vernon; his children, Steve Spears (Vera) of Crittenden and Annette Roney (Richard) of Scipio; his siblings, Lewis Spears (Peggy) of Somerset, Tom Spears (Wilma) of Somerset, Dale Spears (Linda) of Yosemite, Kentucky, Stella Walker of North Vernon, Mary Lou Arnette of North Vernon and Freeda Wesley of Cincinnati, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Adam Roney of Scipio, A. J. Roney (Kristie) of Scipio and Zachary Mullikin (Marly). He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in honor of Stanley through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society.
