With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Opal L. Hardesty of North Vernon, Indiana, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Opal left this world on April 20, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil Allman and Dorothy Smith (Stroup); her husband Charles Hardesty; her sons, Michael Reece and Mark Stout; her siblings, Eddie Smith and Brenda Shaw; her grandchild Lindsey Reece; and her great grandchild Logan Dart.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas Reece (Sue) of Lovett, Myra Hendrix (Bobby) of Paris Crossing, Robin Clerkin (Mike) of Dupont and Missy Vance (Troy) of North Vernon; her siblings, Donald Allman (Carolyn) of Dupont, Daniel "Danny" Smith of Butlerville, Joy Bartlett of North Vernon and Mourine Pope (David) of Columbus; her grandchildren, Gretchen Gabehart (Travis) of North Vernon, Aaron Clerkin (Sydney) of North Vernon, Morgan Douglas (Keaton) of Ketchikan, Daniel Colson (Erica) of Dry Ridge, Jessica Hendrix of Paris Crossing, Andy Henry (Kaylan) of Scottsburg, Sara Dart (Jacob) of Deputy, Britta Vance (Tyler Jahnigen) of Versailles and Mollibeth Stout (Jaden Crawford) of Westport; and her pet Itsy Bit. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home (420 S State St, North Vernon, IN 47265). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at the Vernon Cemetery (315 S Pike St, Vernon, IN 47282).
Memorials may be made in honor of Opal through the funeral home to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
