He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Sutton and Oskell Burress Sutton; his former wives, Marjorie Truelove and Laura Belle Arvin; his siblings, Danny Cochran, Marsha Mattingly, Rosalie Goodson and Marilyn Sutton; and his stepson Roger Shelton.

He is survived by: his wife Laura Belle Sutton; his sons, Brent Sutton (Bliss) and Brian Sutton (Amber); his stepchildren, David Shelton of North Vernon, Della Goodwin (Tim) of North Vernon, Sheila Phillips (Danny) of Tennessee and Dixie Mott (Kenny) of Bicknell; his sisters, Georgia Harris of Nashville, Nancy Sutton of Napoleon and Nona Bradley (Kenny) of Loogootee; and his grandchildren, Cory Castetter of North Vernon, Kyle Sutton (Kelsey) of North Vernon, Jacob Sutton (Brittany) of North Vernon, Brechelle Landwehr (Tyler) of North Vernon, Brendan Sutton of North Vernon, Lucas Terry of North Vernon and Marley Sutton of Elizabethtown.
