She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil Shumate and Columbia "Lummie" Shumate (King); her husband John H. "Jack" McConnell; her daughter Jacalyn Sue "Jackie" Echelbarger; and her sisters, Irene Wynn and Anita Vance.

She is survived by: her children, Greg McConnell (Cheryl) of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Robin Puterbaugh (Mike Jones) of Indianapolis; her son-in-law Marty Echelbarger of Santa Claus; her grandchildren, Eric Echelbarger of Kokomo, John B. Echelbarger (Ashley) of Santa Claus, Jeffrey Echelbarger (Morgan) of Santa Claus, Lucas McConnell (Lindsay) of Windsor, Pierce McConnell (Chanda), John D. Puterbaugh (Caitlin) of Charlotte, Adam Puterbaugh (Heather) of Columbus and Emily Puterbaugh of Brooklyn; and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Avery, Aubrey, Jackson, Palmer Echelbarger, Abby, Josh, Grace Puterbaugh, Mason, Mallory Ledell and Austin McConnell.
