He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Shepherd Sr. and Ruby Shepherd (Thorpe); his brother Jerry L. Shepherd Sr.; and his brothers-in-law, Sam Fugate and Dick Sedam.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Lou Barber; his son Travis Shepherd (Laurie) of North Vernon; his grandson Jackson Shepherd (Lyndsay) of North Vernon; and his sisters, Shirley Herring (Jack) of Columbus, Linda Sedam of Madison, Joyce Giltner of Madison and Iris McClure of Louisville, Kentucky..
