He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert B. Keener and Flossie Keener (Hale); and his siblings, Nelson Keener and Mary Alice Owens. He is survived by: his spouse Nohora Yaneth Hurtado Aguilar; his children, Robert Keener (Andrea) of North Vernon and Devon Everage of Charleston; his brothers, Paul Keener (Belinda) of McMinnville, Tennessee and Steve Nunley (Kimberly) of McMinnville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Derek Keener (Brittany) of North Vernon and Sarah Cook (Benjamin) of North Vernon; and his great grandchildren, Carson of North Vernon, Lauren Keener of North Vernon, Jason Cook of North Vernon and Brooklyn Cook of North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of David through the funeral home to Shriners Children's Hospital.
