He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Thompson and Mary Catherine Thompson (Hazard); his son Gregory D. Thompson; and his brother Bruce Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Danilee Thompson; his daughter Amy E. Lewis of North Vernon; his granddaughters, Kaitlyn Marie Ann Lewis of North Vernon and Kalissa Laney Thompson of North Vernon; and his sisters, Becky Thompson of Scipio, Denise Keith (David) of Scipio and Myra Fischvogt (Bruce) of Scipio.

Memorials may be made in honor of Dale to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
