She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Noah Alfred Slaughter and Judy Fields (Bland); her adoptive father Eugene Fields; her husband James Downey; her children, Charles Coan of Columbus, Louis "Geno" Coan Jr. of North Vernon, Tina Warner of North Vernon and Sandra Coan (Vanessa Hale) of Madison; her siblings, Terry Slaughter (Sandra) of Belspring, Noah Alfred "Buddy" Slaughter Jr. of West Virginia, Kurt Fields of Milan, Nola Slaughter of Nashville and Julie Schwipps (Todd) of West Lafayette; her grandchildren, Destinie Young of North Vernon, Chaz Coan (Amy Cravens) of North Vernon, Shon Warner (Jamey Boswell) of North Vernon, Devin Coan of North Vernon, Shane Warner of North Vernon, Diamond Coan of Hayden, Dylan Hale of Madison, Sierra Hale of Madison, Patience Hale (Justin Deckard) of Madison, Aaron Hale of Madison, Timothy Bershear and Cody Short; and her friend David Dent. She was also cherished by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in honor of Brenda through the funeral home to help with expenses.
