He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Thomas. He is survived by: his mother Bernadine Nemeth (Fred) of Niles; his fiancé Kandie O'Connor of North Liberty; his sisters, Kathleen Konopinski of South Bend and Patti Mills of Granger; his niece Amber Tetzlaff (Chad) of Koontz Lake; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Reig, Sarah, Brenden and Ashlie Menefee (Josiah) of Knox; and also, Drake and Ryder. He is also survived by four nieces; three great nieces; three great nephews; Kandie's daughters.

Memorial Contributions in Joe's memory may be made to either the American Cancer Society or to the family.
