Larry Crump Jr. Obituary
NEW PALESTINE – Larry E. "Lars" Crump Jr., 60 of New Palestine, IN went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2022, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield after complications of autoimmune disease. He was born on May 6, 1962, in Greenfield to Larry Sr. and Rebecca (Beatty) Crump. Larry was a 1980 graduate of New Palestine High School. He then graduated in 1985 from Ball State University in Muncie with bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Information Technology. Larry married his best friend, Sharon (Newkirk) Crump on April 25, 1987, at Amity United Methodist Church in Hancock County.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He spent 22 years of his career at Eli Lilly and Company where he was an Associate Director in Information Technology. Larry was a former EMT for Sugar Creek Township, the Vice President of his neighborhood board, and a cherished friend to many. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, bowling, and taking ballroom dancing lessons with his wife. Larry was an accomplished golfer, an avid Yankees fan, and a lifelong member of the NRA. His granddaughters knew him as "Grandad.".
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Sharon Crump of New Palestine; daughters, Erin (Thomas) Tuegel of Mahomet, IL; Sydnie (Joseph) Pennington of Indianapolis; and Alexandra Crump of Indianapolis; sister, Carrie (Bruce) Van Zant of Dayton, OH; brother, Barry (Janet) Crump of Fishers; granddaughters, Rosalind, Margaret, Cecilia, and Amalie; father- and mother-in-law, Paul & Joyce Newkirk of New Palestine; and his West Highland terriers, Kirby & Oliver. Larry is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm officiated by Rev. Paul Newkirk. Inurnment will take place at a later date at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson, Indiana.
